Inerting and Blanketing

Using inert gases to help keep flammables safe

Inerting and blanketing can be used to store flammable and quality sensitive materials within the power industry. Blanketing these materials with an inert gas, such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide, enables safer storage. Successful blanketing removes one of the three legs of the fire triangle and removes the safety issues that can be associated with such material. Safe handling allows for better operability and material quality.

We can perform calculations ranging from mixture flammability and critical oxygen concentration (C.O.C.) limits using proprietary software to a full computational fluid dynamics (CFD) study. With this information, we can help you determine safe operational conditions and recommend a solution to meet your needs.
